Case Studies of Bill's Clients
Here are some comments from my 2005 Super Summit conference where we discussed many of the same principles that we will explore at the Las Vegas SuperConference. It is important to note that the realizations people came to were from their own insights, not from any sort of lecture material. This is truly an inside-out learning process.
New Insights "The results of this program were completely unexpected. I connected with this as a business. But I was very pleasantly surprised that the listening skills and understanding about presence allowed me to solve a problem that has been going on between me and my wife for three years. As soon as started practicing truly listening and being present, our relationship moved up four or five levels. We are now communicating and appreciating each other much more.
"I came to understand that it was me and my inability to be present and listen that was causing the problem. It is so exciting to be able to come to a program like this and learn something that is totally unexpected and solves a long-standing problem -- in this case with my wife and partner. It’s extraordinary.
"The program did two things for me as it applies to business. It affirmed some principles that I have believed in and tried to practice. I also had two major insights that will greatly help our business." -- Rick Riccio, Washington Square Group, Huntsville, AL
New Skills "This program has opened my world. I have always been wound tight but as a result of this program I think I’ll be able to bring it down a few rpms. I also see that I can listen better to people and really hear what they are saying instead of just saying in a rush “OK, OK, OK.” My communication skills have definitely improved. I can be more at ease at work, listen better, and procrastinate less. Procrastination has been a source of stress for me." -- Roc Langone, Waterville Dari Creme, Deansboro, NY
New Solutions "What has struck me is that most of the problems we encounter in our businesses (restaurants or others) are generally managerial problems, not employee problems. We tend to want to blame our employees. If we step back and take a reflective look at ourselves, the solutions will come to us. This understanding will be valuable in my new venture into the restaurant industry so that I can remain in a centered state of mind. This program would be valuable for any business." -- Ed Griffin, R. Stanley's, Sturgis, MI
New Approaches "This program has challenged me to recognize that my thought determines my state of mind ... and my state of mind effects my entire business. I see that I need to delegate more. When I go into the business in a hectic frenzied state of mind it creates havoc in the organization and filters down.
"Perhaps most meaningful for me have been the “aha” moments where I realized certain things I’m doing that I need to change. I gained focus on how I’m going to direct my management development group. We are going to have a course change. I’m going to teach them how our attitudes effect the rest of the staff." -- Lorraine Salazar, Sal’s Mexican Restaurants, Fresno, CA
New Clarity "I really enjoyed the Super Summit and have been feeling the positive effects already -- no fires to put out when I arrived back Thursday morning and a lot clearer on how to deal with a few staff members I was hoping would just go away, but truly knew that I had to handle differently.
"The thing I enjoyed most about the Summit was that I was not being sold. It was truly about sharing how to get the deepest connection and best mental health possible with no book or program to buy that held the final secret. So thank you, that really helped me to be open to the entire process and time well spent." -- Heidi Westfall, Alpenhorn Bistro & Bar, Smithers, BC, Canada
New Relationships "It has not been very long since I got home, but I started reflecting after the first lunch break Monday. I do have a few ideas that I have been reflecting on since then. I always thought I was a terrible listener (turns out I was right!), but the way things were introduced gave me some get insight as to how to listen.
"One way I started thinking about listening is that if I do it right I am have become three times SMARTER because as I work through problems with people, I now have my solution, their solution and at least one solution that is a variation on both ideas. It turns out that other people are a lot smarter than I give them credit for. I truly think that once my staff realizes I will listen they will give our company the best ideas they have so that we can become a stronger company and I no longer feel the need to be the "Idea Man."
"I noticed another thing last night. I get my children on Wednesdays and every other weekend ... but last night I was really with them. It was the first time in a while I remember just listening to them tell me the story of their day. I have always asked but rarely even listened to their answer. I would ask because I thought that was what I was supposed to do but I would just wait my turn to talk again while they gave me all the details of their day.
"It is amazing what life looks like from a clear mind. I am thrilled to have been a part of this experience. Thank you for holding this Summit." -- Paul Thornton, Pauli's Bar & Grill, Madison, AL
